The main directions of the unit's work
The work of the department is directed to the implementation of state quality control of veterinary immunobiological means of viral origin (compliance with the requirements of standards, pharmacopoeial articles, technical conditions, technological regulations, veterinary and sanitary rules, instructions for their use in the process of development, approval, implementation, production, storage, transportation , as well as during implementation and application at enterprises, institutions and organizations of all forms of ownership), comprehensive verification of complaints about them (vaccines, serums, diagnostics, nutrient media, etc.).
Achievements
During the existence of the department, a unique collection of cell lines and virus strains was created, which was granted the status of National Property. Employees of the department constantly take part in the development of new and improvement of existing methods of control of biological preparations with the aim of their standardization; planned, selective, production control studies related to the registration of imported and domestic biological drugs in Ukraine.
The department conducted research under the grant of the National Research Fund of Ukraine “Anti-coronavirus activity of water-soluble C 60 fullerenes in the creation of new prototypes of prophylactic and therapeutic drugs: in silico, in vitro та in vivo screenings” (2020.01/0044), implemented in cooperation with Kyiv National University named after Taras Shevchenko.
At the moment, a project is being carried out in cooperation with the University of Florida (USA) under the Biological Threat Reduction Program (DTRA) and a project with the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut, Federal Research Institute for Animal Health (Germany), “Stärkung der Biosicherheit beim Umgang mit proliferationskritischen Tierseuchenerregern in der Ukraine”.
Brief information about services
- Conducting laboratory tests of animal blood sera for the presence of antibodies to the rabies virus (FAVN test);
- Determination of the biological activity of vaccines against viral diseases on in vivo and in vitro models;
- Production of hyperimmune serums;
- Determination of antiviral activity of disinfectants, substances of plant origin, synthesized compounds, etc.;
- Conducting tests to determine the sensitivity, specificity and reproducibility of samples of test systems for serological diagnostics
