The State Scientific Control Institute of Biotechnology and Strains of Microorganisms (SSCIBSM) is a leading institution in the field of examination, registration and quality control of veterinary immunobiological agents and microbial preparations. The institute was established in 1998. on the basis of the Kyiv branch of the DNDKI of Veterinary Medicines and Feed Additives. Today, the Institute employs 68 employees, including – 2 doctors of science and 12 candidates of science. In accordance with the Law of Ukraine “On Veterinary Medicine”, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of May 7, 1998 resolution No. 637 “On the approval of the Regulation on the State Scientific Research Control Institute of Veterinary Medicines and Feed Additives and the Regulation on the National Center of Microorganism Strains and the Procedure for Depositing Microorganism Strains”

Institution’s duties:

• conducting scientific research on the development of regulatory and technical documents on the approval of immunobiological, biological, herbal, chemical, chemical-pharmaceutical, and other means of animal protection;
• implementation of state quality control, standardization, examination and certification of means of animal protection, materials, equipment, devices, tools (further – means for veterinary medicine), feed additives, raw materials and products of animal origin, fodder of animal and plant origin.

The State Scientific Control Institute of Biotechnology and Strains of Microorganisms is currently the only institution of veterinary biotechnology in Ukraine, where work is carried out on registration trials of veterinary immunobiological agents and microbial preparations (both domestic and foreign production) and their state quality control.
